Christoffer Johansen

Christoffer Johansen is a MD and today a professor in cancer late effects research with a track record of more than 600 peer reviewed publications as a result of more than 35 years in the science of cancer survivorship. His PhD was in coping among colorectal cancer patients (1994) and his Doctoral Master of Science thesis was in the field of electromagnetic fields and health effects (2004).

Aside from 2012 where he spent time at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, his affiliation has always been in Copenhagen, Denmark. First, he worked at the Danish Cancer Society Research Center and the last 10 years at the Oncology Department at Rigshospitalet. He has conducted close to 25 RCT in psychosocial/behavioral/ lifestyle interventions, numerous large scale nationwide and population-based epidemiological studies and a broad range of clinical studies.

His experiences in teaching, supervising and mentoring includes more than 50 PhD students, an ongoing broad teaching profile and mentoring of a number of mid-career researchers. He has been honorarium professor at the University of Leipzig and Eppendorf University in Hamburg, Germany. He is still curious and interested in developing the field of cancer late effects research.
