Sara Monteiro Pires
Sara Pires is a Senior Scientist at the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, and her work focuses on food-associated diseases. Through her research, she aims to improve risk management and decision-making in public health and food safety policy through data analysis, epidemiology, health impact assessment, and a range of multidisciplinary approaches. She has worked in various national and international projects, and acts as a member of international expert groups. She is currently a member of the World Health Organization’s Expert Group to estimate the Global Burden of Foodborne Diseases (WHO FERG).
