AD/PD 2026: Microglial Responses in Alzheimer’s Disease

Professor Kristina Freude, University of Copenhagen, presented a talk at the AD/PD Conference 2026 on microglia and risk variants (SNPs) in Alzheimer’s disease, and how these risk variants affect microglial reactivity. Additionally, the research group is attempting to link the SNP risk profile with microglial reactivity in both men and women, potentially helping to explain sex differences in the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
