Danish Research Identifies Promising New Target for Preventing CNS Relapse in ALL

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) frequently involves the central nervous system (CNS), and CNS disease is a common site of relapse, yet effective treatment remains challenging due to limited blood–brain barrier penetration of many therapies. In this MEDtalk, Signe Modvig, consultant physician and clinical associate professor at Copenhagen University Hospital Rigshospitalet, presents a Danish single-cell transcriptomic study of leukemic cells from bone marrow and CSF, elucidating molecular mechanisms underlying CNS dissemination and relapse and identifying a promising therapeutic target for patients at high risk of CNS relapse.
