Johannes Schetelig

Prof. Johannes Schetelig, MD, M.Sc. is Head of the Department of Stem Cell Transplantation at the University Hospital Dresden and Head of the Clinical Trials Unit of DKMS gGmbH.

 

Johannes Schetelig began his medical studies in 1988 at the Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, before continuing his studies at the Free University of Berlin and the Humboldt University of Berlin from 1990 to 1997. His medical license followed in 1998.

Since December 2006, Johannes Schetelig has been a senior physician at the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I at the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital of the Technical University (TU) Dresden. He habilitated in 2008. From 2008 to 2011, Johannes Schetelig also completed a master’s degree in medical biometry at the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg.

Since 2014, he has been a full professor for Stem Cell Transplantation at the TU Dresden. As a specialist in internal medicine with a focus on hematology/oncology (especially AML, CLL), his scientific activities mainly focus on hematopoietic cell transplantation, transplantation immunology, and donor selection. He is actively involved in clinical research as principal investigator, scientific coordinator and local PI for several phase I to III clinical trials in hematologic malignancies. He is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific publications.

 

Johannes Schetelig is also a member of various scientific societies and institutions: the German Cooperative Transplant Study Group, the German Society of Hematology and Oncology, the Chronic Malignancies Working Party EBMT, the Steering Committee of the German CLL study group, the Steering Committee of the Study Alliance Leukemia, the Definitions & Registry Committee of the EBMT, and the Immunobiology Working Committee & Graft Sources and Manipulation Committee of the CIBTMR.
