Lene N. Nejsum
Lene N. Nejsum, PhD, Dr. Med., is a Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine and associate fellow at Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) at Aarhus University, Denmark. Her work evolves around an epithelial function in both normal physiology as well as pathophysiology. She especially focuses on the regulation of body water homeostasis as well as cancer development. Her team has discovered new roles for aquaporins in the regulation of cellular morphology, cellular adhesion, cell polarity, and collective cell migration; all processes that are alteded in cancer development and spread. Additionally, her laboratory is actively engaged in the investigation of vasopressin-mediated renal water reabsorption, with a specific focus on understanding the regulation of aquaporin-2 in renal collecting duct principal cells by vasopressin.
