ECCO 2026: Maternal Ultra-Processed Food Intake During Pregnancy and Risk of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Offspring
Does a high intake of ultra-processed foods during pregnancy increase the risk of inflammatory bowel disease in children? In this MEDtalk, PhD student Olivia Mariella Anneberg from PREDICT - Center for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Aalborg University presents findings from more than 60,000 mother–child pairs in the Danish National Birth Cohort investigating whether maternal intake of ultra-processed foods during pregnancy is associated with the risk of inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, in offspring up to 18 years of age.
